Neighbourhood Attractions

  • Enjoy a walk or jog along the lakeshore, with access to the Lacombe trail system from our backyard.
  • Slip across the lake in one of our canoes and perhaps glimpse the resident wild life. In winter, bring your cross country skis.
  • Capitalize on the neighbouring university gym (also bordering Lake Elizabeth) that offers guest access to its modern exercise equipment and pool for a fee.
  • Tantalize your taste buds with Lacombe's restaurant offerings: Greek, Japanese, Chinese, and East Indian dining, as well as more traditional Canadian fare. (Hint: To experience Lacombe circa 1900, visit Downtown's back allies and enjoy a local artist's rendition of the town).
  • For beach lovers, take an easy drive to the resort town of Sylvan Lake, and to the beach and picnic areas of Gull Lake.
  • Bring your camera to capture the sunrise and sunset reflections on Lake Elizabeth.
  • Enjoy back door birding: A pair of geese returns each year to raise another family, providing the entertaining drama of feeding and flying lessons. Wood peckers, nut hatches and wrens nest in the arbor; resident blue jays compete with squirrels for peanuts. A pair of doves frequents the property, and herons, loons, a range of ducks and other water fowl nest around or pass by the lake.
  • Keep watch for the occasional deer, fox and coyote passing through our back yard.
